Why is cyber-security important to charities?

(via Directory for Social Change)

Every £1 gained from reducing fraud loss, is £1 that could be used to help your beneficiaries. This is why at this year’s Charity Accountants’ Conference, Jonathan Orchard will be addressing fraud and cyber security. Here he shares why cyber-security should be taken seriously at your organisation:

It’s impacting everybody
Recent ransomware attacks on the NHS show us that every organisation is at risk and charities are no different.
30% of phishing emails are opened…
and 9/10 of those emails contain ransomware software so it’s a genuine real risk faced by everybody.
You can’t prevent these risks but you can reduce the risk of falling prey to fraud losses
You can do this by raising awareness and developing simple message throughout the organisation.
